Insights from Ericsson and NetComm Wireless’ partnership
Solution:

Australia’s National Broadband Network aims to give all Australians access to very fast broadband as soon as possible, at affordable prices, and at least cost to taxpayers, using a multi-technology approach.

nbn is committed to providing all homes and businesses nationwide with peak wholesale download data rates (and proportionate upload rates) of at least 25 Mbps; and at least 50 Mbps for 90 per cent of fixed line premises.

One of the key challenges facing nbn is serving less populated rural and regional communities where it is not practical or economical to deploy fibre or satellite services. To overcome this change, nbn decided to deploy a Fixed Wireless network that is able to deliver committed bandwidth, specific capacity and speeds of up to 50Mbps downlink and 20Mbps uplink (100 Mbps / 40 Mbps in 2018) using the latest 4G TDD-LTE technology. It is proven to meet performance measures across vast geographic areas, and brings the fastest and most competitive high-speed broadband ever available to homes and businesses located outside of major Australian cities.
